Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods is a 20th Century Fox and Toei Animation upcoming 2013 Japanese animated movie directed by Masahiro Hosoda with screenplay by Yūsuke Watanabe with Dragon Ball original author Akira Toriyama himself which features the voices of Masako Nozawa for Goku, Ryō Horikawa (Vegeta), Toshio Furukawa (Piccolo), Koichi Yamadera (Bills), and Masakazu Morita (Wiss) slated for a March 30, 2013 Japanese theatrical release. Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods is the 14th Dragon Ball Z movie, seventeen years after last being the tenth anniversary movie Dragon Ball: The Path to Power back in 1996. Ecstatic over the new challenge, Goku ignores King Kai's advice and battles Bills, but is overwhelmed and defeated. Bills leaves, but Goku, knowing of the threat Bills presents to the universe, takes it upon himself and his friends to find a way to stop Bills before all is lost.

Akira Toriyama's Dragon Ball is the definitive manga and anime of those who grew up around/during the late 80's all the way to 90's. With countless spin-offs from original video animations (OVA) to video games, the legacy of Dragon Ball continually lived on after its conclusion. After seventeen year since the last film, a new canon Dragon Ball Z film is set to be released on March 30, 2013. So what's new?

This film is not set or has anything to do with the Dragon Ball GT series which by the way was non-canon or not part of the Dragon Ball canon from Akira Toriyama's manga. So yes, Super Saiya-jin 4 will be Goku's ultimate form here. On a related note ceck out the press statement released by Toei Animation back on July 17, 2012:

"The global phenomenon Dragon Ball is being made into a movie using Toei Animation’s latest technology, consistently realized as a Toriyama work, with the original author Akira Toriyama himself deeply involved from the script stage for the first time. An episode from between the animation series “Z” and “GT”, or in other words from the blank decade between the end of the battle with Majin Buu in chapter 517 of the manga and chapter 518, will be depicted for the first time.

Such well-known and charming characters as Krillin, Piccolo, and Vegeta will all make an appearance. A new story in the official history of Dragon Ball is born, neither a spin-off nor a side-story, one that can be enjoyed by both children and parents, manga fans and anime fans."

Akira Toriyama posted a brief comment on the official website saying:

"Actually, it's the first time I've been involved deeply in the production of animation and scriptwriting. I've forgotten many things because it had been a while, but as expected of the original author, I was soon able to get the tempo back. This movie will have the original atmosphere and a little bit of modern flavor, so I believe it will be a wonderful entertainment just like old times!"

Wreck-It Ralph Trailer Impressions: Disney 3-D Animated Movie with Tons of Video Game References

Wreck-It Ralph is a 2012 3-D animated comedy film from Walt Disney Animation Studios about the story of Wreck-It Ralph, a generic arcade video game bad guy "from Fix-It Felix Jr.", who is determined to prove he can be a good guy. Wreck-It Ralph is directed by Rich Moore featuring the voices of John C. Reilly, Jack McBrayer, Jane Lynch, and Sarah Silverman slated for a November 2, 2012 theatrical release. Plot / Synopsis

Wreck-It Ralph is the 9-foot-tall, 643-pound villain of an 8-bit arcade video game named Fix-It Felix Jr., in which the game's titular hero fixes buildings that Ralph destroys. For thirty years, Ralph has been doing the same job over and over and has become tired of being the bad guy.

Wanting to prove he can be a good guy and not just a villain, Ralph escapes his game through the power cord and lands in Hero's Duty, a first-person shooter where he helps the game's hero, Sergeant Calhoun, battle against "Cy-Bugs", the game's alien invaders. He later enters Sugar Rush, a kart racing game set on tracks made of candies, cookies and other sweets. There, Ralph meets Vanellope von Schweetz, one of the game's characters, who has learned that her game is faced with a dire threat that could affect the entire arcade, and one that Ralph may have inadvertently started.

Faith in Hollywood restored! In times where everything seems to be a rehashed of something, it is rare and a great sigh of relief to see some few gems pop up every once in a while. I don't know, I just feel like Wreck-It Ralph has this very fresh concept using video games as its main selling point.

Having a villain eventually becoming a hero is not really a new idea, but when one entertainment media incorporate it with another entity like a video game it suddenly changes into something new. Being a fan of both films and video games, I just find the trailer for Wreck-It Ralph to be fresh and awesome. It is probably because of the many video game references the film will use, not to mention the cameos of various video game characters as seen in the trailer. This same scenario reminds me of the classic "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" which borrowed cartoon characters from different kids shows and weave them all in into one mega movie. Hopefully this film will achieve what "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" has.

What makes a good animated film? The answer to that is when the said animated film both caters to the entire family. An animated film where both children and adults will find entertaining. This is the case with Dreamwork's Rise of the Guardian.

Most of us grew up hearing stories about various fictitious characters like Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy, the Easter Bunny, the Boogeyman, the Sandman, etc. This is probably why most films that includes a take on most of these characters usually warrants our interest, but what more if you put them together and approach them in a completely different perspective? This is where Rise of the Guardians trailer works. I for one am hyped up for this animated film and automatically gets a recommendation from us.

Dark Shadows Trailer Impressions: Epic Conflict Between a 200 Year Old Vampire and His Bitter Ex of a Witch

Dark Shadows is a 2012 supernatural drama comedy film based on the 1966–1971 gothic soap opera of the same name. Director by Tim Burton and Johnny Depp both admit to be fans of the original television soap, so there is hope that this would be the perfect and loyal film adaptation of that cult classic television show, right? Well, no! According to MTV, Tim Burton has opted "for gonzo comedy that should please many but may rile fans of the original soap opera."

As for someone who have never been exposed to such old gothic series, nor interested (that much) to goth themed shows in general, seeing the trailer alone is more than enough to excite me. The Dark Shadows' trailer looks hilarious and the right sort of weirdness expected from a Tim Burton and Johnny Depp film. I for one am hyped up for this film and will definitely see this once it hits the theaters this May 2012.

This latest Spider-Man game came from the same team that brought us Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions and Spider-Man: Edge of Time so you might have an idea of what they game might possibly look and feel like. The big question is will their latest Spider-Man game be an improvement of the studio's first two Spidey game or will it have the exact same flaws as the first two.

Thanks to the popularity of the Batman Arkham games, gamers standards and taste when it comes to superhero video games have been cranked up on an extreme level. There have been a plethora of Spider-Man video games but so far none have come close to perfection as what the Batman Arkham game series had accomplish. With that, there is really a high expectation both with the film and video game under The Amazing Spider-Man franchise. With a more darker tone, hopefully it will be the Spider-Man that everyone has been waiting for.

Ultimate Spider-Man or Ultimate Spider-Man The Animated Series is a new American television animated series based on Stan Lee and Steve Ditko's Marvel superhero character (icon) Spider-Man. Ultimate Spider-Man is written and produced by Brian Bendis, a primary architect of the Ultimate Marvel Universe who also launched Ultimate Spider-Man back in 2001, alongside Paul Dini, and Man of Action (Steven T. Seagle, Joe Kelly, Joe Casey, and Duncan Rouleau), creators of the animated series Ben 10 and Generator Rex. With such big names working on this latest reiteration of the Spider-Man animated series, will this Ultimate Spider-Man be the first successful animated series under the Marvel and Disney merger?

Ultimate Spider-Man Television Trailer Review

I may not be the biggest fan of the look of this new Spider-Man animated series, but if there is something that I've learned is that to never judge a book by its cover. The same happened to me with Spectacular Spider-Man. For someone who grew up watching the 90's Spider-Man the Animated series, Spectacular Spider-Man's look was a lot "simpler" compared to its predecessor, but with great story, character build-up and progression, not to mention kick-ass fight scenes and gathering of Spider-Man's villains in one point of the show, Spectacular Spider-Man became one of my one of my favorite modern animated series, sadly it got cancelled. The latest animated series which will premiere on Disney XD on April 1, 2012 (April Fools?) has that same strange look but it still deserve some benefit of doubt. It might have the same epic scope in terms of storytelling like what Spectacular had.

Although I gave it this benefit of doubt, I still can't help but to feel something bad about the series. Maybe it is how this trailer is presented. It is feels too light, so for the kids. Well, I know the adults are not the primary market of such superhero series but kids nowadays aren't that innocent either. They are more intelligent and can understand a more edgier and darker themed animated series. Hopefully the Ultimate Spider-Man has more to offer than its misleading "wholesome" and kid-friendly feel as shown in the trailer. And Disney XD April 1, its like an experiment from Marvel and Disney? Hopefully they won't say in the future when it gets cancelled... "That is exactly why we put it on an April Fools debut, to make a foll out of Spider-Man" or something like that.

Sadako 3D is a 2012 Japanese horror film and fourth Japanese sequel to the very first Ring or Ringu back in 1998 adapted from the novel "Ring" by Koji Suzuki. We can't deny that nostalgia plays a big part in the success of a movie. Adaptations of an an iconic television show, book, or video game will usually bring out a feeling of excitement to those who grew up with such titles. The original Japanese Ring is probably one of the first Asian horror films that spook the living hell out of me as a kid which made me fell in love with it as a horror fan later on (the next film being Ju-on/Grudge). Knowing that Sadako 3D is a movie written by the original author of the nove Ring, this makes me more excited to see how will they creep out the fans who grew up with their Ring film series.

I have read a couple of rumors regarding Sadako 3D: Mainly that the film is a spin-off movie and that the title is still subjective to change. Well, at least it is not a reboot. The past Ring films were uniquely scary in their own time and although it would be interesting to see how will Japan upgrade the scares, they decided not to. Luckily Japan isn't that crazy about making reboots unlike Hollywood. Spin-off movie? why not. Seeing the films synopsis, there is a more sinister power behind the resurfacing of the curse of Sadako, the question is will he have the same tragic story that drove him to extreme ends to creating chaos through Sadako's curse? That is what I am looking forward to with this film. No, I am not looking forward to its US adaptation but for the subtitled version if ever it gets an international theatrical release or even in home video format. And Sadako 3D? Well, I think it is a lame title as well. They can improve it by omitting the 3D and just going with plain old Sadako, although Ring: Sadako's Curse would probably have a nicer tone to it, but that's just me. Will the scares be elevated by incorporating 3-D, that is what will everyone find out once it gets released in spooktacular 3-D.

Generally fans of the Ring are pretty much hyped about this Japanese film. Hopefully seeing the international reception, the people behind it would release this internationally, but knowing the internet and devoted fans this will definitely be available in some definite time in the not so near future. Sadako 3D trailer has its creepy moments and some really cliche but still creepy parts present in a typical Asian horror movie, something that I personally adore.

The Amazing Spider-Man Film Trailer Review

The Amazing Spider-Man Official trailer seems to do what fans familiar to the series have always dreamed of, a somewhat loyal to its comics root film adaptation of Spider-Man. Some film fans were a bit skeptic at first when they heard that Hollywood is doing another reboot of the first Spider-Man film franchise (2002-2007) popularized by director Sam Raimi and actors Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker/Spider-Man and Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane Watson. But after seeing The Amazing Spider-Man official trailer, this second attempt on the spider-Man film franchise is starting to

look pretty rad.

There are certain things to love and hate with the Raimi Trilogy Spider-Man film franchise. Particular things some familiar with the super hero series and critics alike questioned include the major alteration of the original Spider-Man lore: Miscasting characters from Mary Jane Watson being Peter's first love interest rather than Gwen Stacey to Gwen being just another office fling; and the injustice done (debatable) on the Spider-Man villain Venom on the last title in the Raimi's film trilogy. Some aspects that movie goers like on Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy were the various epic action moments of the film, superb character build up for Doctor Octopus, the original Spider-Man costume used in the film, and the actual concept of a Spider-Man film itself. But its 2012, and a different production team is behind that, so what does this new film franchise under Marc Webb has potentially in store for us this Summer of 2012?

Ben Parker is pretty much alive on this Spider-Man film reboot. The Amazing Spider-Man trailer hints that this is more about Peter's mysterious parents, his first year as the masked vigilante (because that is what Spider-Man really is), and his first romantic relationship with Gwen Stacy who happens to be the daughter of the the police out to get Spider-Man. All the elements of a right Spider-Man movie seems to be in this film. I am happy that Hollywood has learned from the mistakes of the first series and started to listen to what fans and film goers might actually like in a spider-Man film. This Spider-Man film is darker and has a more brooding Nolan Batman film feel to it, and I am fine with that. The amazing Spider-Man even pokes fun of the fact that Spider-Man wears a skin tight red and blue suit but still manages to kick some criminal and police butts.

Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man 2012 reboot's first film villain is The Lizard. Growing up with the 90's Spider-Man the animated series, I can somewhat say that the film probably will stay true to Dr. Curt Connors (The Lizard) character of being a friend and potential mentor to Peter Parker but will later turned savage no thanks to the genetic alteration caused by The Lizard serum. But it seems like they are adding more to Doc Connors character by associating him with Peter's parents who mysteriously left him in the care of his Aunt May and Uncle Ben. To what the connections all are makes The Amazing Spider-Man a must see.

Times are changing, and what people might love r hate with past films might (or might not be) remedied by newer versions. Some films are worth rebooting, while some just need to be left alone, and what of Spider-Man? Well, after seeing this trailer all I can say is that this reboot is very much needed and a welcome addition to the excellent superhero film franchise under Marvel Entertainment.

Street Fighter X Tekken is a 2012 fighting game crossover featuring two of fighting an epic clash between Capcom's Street Fighter and Namco Bandai's Tekken. Steet Fighter is the first crossover game between this epic crossover between the two fighting game franchise. Street Fighter x Tekken is developed by Capcom, thus the reason why it's name comes first before Tekken and its gameplay mechanics similar to Super Street Fighter IV. Plot / Synopsis

Unlike Capcom's other crossover fighting games (such as Marvel vs. Capcom), Street Fighter X Tekken will offer some semblance of a plot that will explain why these two otherwise disparate universes have come together.

As revealed by a trailer released by Capcom to coincide with the 2011 Tokyo Game Show, the center of the conflict between the Street Fighter and Tekken universes is a cubical object that crash-landed to Earth. The object is of a mysterious origin and researchers worldwide are unable to determine what purpose it serves. The only thing that can be understood is that when beings come into conflict around this object, it releases a water-like energy that brings more power to the combatants. Due to the object's tendency to react to conflict between beings, they name it "Pandora".

What this object has done that forces the characters of each universe to come to blows will be further explored in the game itself.

Capcom has finally listened to some of its clamoring supporters suggestion and request to have a decent plot to tie in to their fighting game series. A decent plot or storyline was lacking in Capcom's last fighting game which is Marvel vs Capcom 3. Don't get me wrong, MVC3 was an awesome crossover fighting game, but as someone who prefers some form of logic and story as to why everything is happening even if it is just a plain old fighting video game, MVC3 disappoints. Hopefully there are some cut scenes or decent story (intros, mid-battle cut scenes, unlockable endings, or a separate single player story-driven campaign) that will make Street Fighter x Tekken a more charming game outside its hardcore fighting game audience(market), or this is just me with high hopes for a fighting game.

The Dark Knight Rises Official Trailer Impressions: Christopher Nolan's Batman Ends with the Rising

The Dark Knight Rises is a 2012 super hero film from Warner Bros. Pictures which stars Christian Bale, Tom Hardy and Anne Hathaway is the third (sequel to 2010's The Dark Knight) and the last Batman film under Christopher Nolan. Christopher Nolan's Batman film series as of this post is said to be the best film adaptation of the popular DC super hero. Batman is forced to resurface when the terrorist leader Bane arrived at Gotham City with plans to destroy the it, and to discover the truth regarding the "enigmatic" Selina Kyle.

All good things must eventually come to an end. The epic finale for Christopher Nolan's Batman is soon at hand and for those who watched the first two films , there will be no doubt that they will see this conclusion. For those who haven't seen the first two films, all I can say is that you are missing out on something very special and I suggest you go watched them first if you are curious with this third Batman film installment.



It is a good trailer for Batman 3 The Dark Knight Rises. It didn't spoil the fans of the DC super hero by showing too much of the villains, heck it didn't even showed you Anne Hathaway in her Catwoman costume and Bane in his juiced up hulking form, if that is not effective teasing for Batman i don't know what is. Then we have the very generic plot as to why Batman must eventually come out. But to what part will Selina Kyle/Catwoman play in all of it is still left to movie goers and fans enthusiastic imagination and this is why this is such a great movie trailer. It is a definite recommendation for CMAQUEST, and we can't wait for The Dark Knight Rises July 2012 release.

The Expendables 2 Trailer Impressions: When One Mega Movie Starring Action Superstars is Not Enough

The Expendables 2 is a 2012 ensemble cast action film sequel to the similarly awesome The Expendables back in 2010. The Expendables 2 is distributed by Lionsgate which stars action film superstars of both past and present which includes Sylvester Stallone, Liam Hemsworth, Randy Couture, Jason Statham, Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Chuck Norris, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture. After taking a seemingly simple job for Mr. Church (Bruce Willis) the Expendables find their plans going awry and one of their own is brutally murdered by rival mercenary Jean Vilain (Jean-Claude Van Damme). The Expendables set out into hostile territory — with their new members Billy the Kid (Liam Hemsworth) and Maggie (Yu Nan) — to put a stop to a deadly weapon and gain their revenge against the villain who killed their brother.

There are some movies that are meant to be left alone, untouched for any sequels, remakes or reboots. Once Hollywood don't take such heed, well let us just say that both fans and critics would bash it like a pinata with its content all over the place. But then there are some films that are just asking to be continued and Expendables is one of them.



Where do action film superstars go when they have lived their golden days? Well, besides their multibillion retirement life or a life of charity, some actually decided to actually cast them into one mega movie which Lionsgate did in the first The Expendables action movie back in 2010. With such successful sales and reception, it is expected for the studios to make a sequel and that is what they did with The Expendables 2. What can be said about the ultimate action star collaboration sequel? It is just that! Setting aside my usual critical taste when reviewing trailers and films, The Expendables 2 movie trailer just show one actual scene which doesn't tell or preview much about the plot (which is both a good and bad thing when I usually review trailers) then it's all just faces of past and present action movie superstars flashing afterwards. Why would not the trailer do that? It is not the complex storyline or the acting that would make movie goers flock the theater to watch this, but the actual idea of putting all of these once were and probably still are popular action film into one good solid two and more hours of mindless action fun. If you grew up watching action movies starring any actors in this film, then this is a no brainer and you'll eventually watch it... in any format you like.

Rurouni Kenshin Live Action Movie Trailer Impressions: The Live Action Film Adaptation of the Epic Tale of Kenshin Himura

Rurouni Kenshin is a 2012 live action movie adaptation of the popular manga and anime series "Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Swordsman Romantic Story" or simply "Rurouni Kenshin", or popularly known in the US as Samurai X. When I first heard that Warner Bros was behind the movie adaptation of the highly acclaimed samurai series, I was very dubious and skeptical about it at first. Luckily that impression was changed after watching the Rurouni Kenshin live-action movie's first teaser trailer.

Plot / Synopsis

A live-action film adaptation of Rurouni Kenshin was announced on June 28, 2011. Produced by Warner Bros., the film will be directed by Keishi Ōtomo which stars Takeru Satoh (played the main character Ryotaro Nogami in Kamen Rider Den-O) as Kenshin Himura, Emi Takei as Kaoru, Yuu Aoi as Megumi Takani, Munetaka Aoki as Sanosuke Sagara, Taketo Tanaka as Myojin Yahiko, Koji Kikkawa as Jine Udo, Yosuke Eguchi as Hajime Saitou, and Teruyuki Kagawa as Kanryuu Takeda. The film is scheduled for a August 25, 2012 release, and is slated for an internationally release later on as the Rurouni Kenshin a.k.a. Samurai X is a very good anime series.

Rurouni Kenshin Live Action Film Trailer Review

Japan is known as the home of manga and anime. The Rurouni Kenshin series is considered to be one of the best anime series that came from Japan, and has since been released worldwide as Samurai X. Making a live action film of something as nostalgic as the Rurouni Kenshin series is guaranteed to receive both positive and negative criticism.



Rurouni Kenshin holds a very high nostalgic value and is probably the main reason why fans of the anime or manga series might have mixed reactions over it. Basing from the feedback received by the first teaser trailer for the live action film, it is looking good for the Rurouni Kenshin Japanese film adaptation. Thank the samurai gods that it is made in Japan. Various U.S. entertainment companies had a bad habit and established an awful reputation of adapting various Japanese series and "Americanizing" them. Just look at what they did with poor pronunciation of names and lame voice acting after dubbing an anime series in question, and even completely bastardizing a franchise just like what they did with Dragonball Evolution. So I cannot be blamed when my expectations plummeted to hell when I heard that an American company like Warner Bros. is responsible for making a live-action movie adaptation for Rurouni Kenshin. Luckily, the Studio is only responsible for the distribution and funding of the film and it is all Japanese to put it to words. This doesn't mean that everyone will welcome a live-action film of the animated series or the comics they grew up with. But even so, this is one train that cannot be stopped. I for one am curious to how they will put to film the epic story and romance of Kenshi and Kaoru. I have followed the Kamen Rider Den-O tokusatsu series and I can say that Takeru Satoh is a nice pick to play as the reformed Hitokiri Battousai. I for one am excited to get my hands in this live action movie adaptation of Samurai X.
