Beautiful Creatures Trailer Impressions: A Witch aka Caster's Love Story

Beautiful Creatures is an upcoming 2013 Warner Bros and Summit Entertainment supernatural romance film under the direction and screenplay of Richard LaGravenese starring Alice Englert, Viola Davis, Emmy Rossum, Emma Thompson, and Jeremy Irons. Beautiful Creatures is based from the young adult novel of the same name "Beautiful Creatures" by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl. The film is slated for a February 2013 US theatrical release. With more movie adaptations of some of the bestselling titles under the young adult genre, demon hunters with The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, zombies with Warm Bodies and witches with Beautiful Creatures, 2013 is looking quite nice for young adult market. Well Casters seems to be the right term rather than witches as what Beautiful Creatures 2013's film adaptation refer them to.

I am not really big in the romance so I am not really the best guy to refer these kinds of film, but what I can say is that basing from its trailer it does look quite alright. The special effects for spells looks impressive. Let's just hope that the overall story and performance of the actors would deliver.

Dark Shadows Trailer Impressions: Epic Conflict Between a 200 Year Old Vampire and His Bitter Ex of a Witch

Dark Shadows is a 2012 supernatural drama comedy film based on the 1966–1971 gothic soap opera of the same name. The film is directed by Tim Burton and stars Johnny Depp as the iconic Barnabas Collins, Michelle Pfeiffer, Helena Bonham Carter, Eva Green, Jackie Earle Haley, Jonny Lee Miller, Chloe Grace Moretz and Bella Heathcote. Plot / Synopsis

In 1752, the Collins family sails from Liverpool, England to North America. The son, Barnabas, grows up to be a wealthy playboy in Collinsport, Maine and is the master of Collinwood Manor. He breaks the heart of a witch, Angelique Bouchard, who turns him into a vampire and buries him alive. Fast forward to 200 years (1972), Barnabas is accidentally freed from his coffin and returns to find his once-magnificent manor in ruin. Now occupied by dysfunctional Collins descendants and other residents, Barnabas struggles catching up with time and dealing with the witch who cursed him who still is eventually still is into him.

Director by Tim Burton and Johnny Depp both admit to be fans of the original television soap, so there is hope that this would be the perfect and loyal film adaptation of that cult classic television show, right? Well, no! According to MTV, Tim Burton has opted "for gonzo comedy that should please many but may rile fans of the original soap opera."

As for someone who have never been exposed to such old gothic series, nor interested (that much) to goth themed shows in general, seeing the trailer alone is more than enough to excite me. The Dark Shadows' trailer looks hilarious and the right sort of weirdness expected from a Tim Burton and Johnny Depp film. I for one am hyped up for this film and will definitely see this once it hits the theaters this May 2012.
