POKÉMON: Detective Pikachu is a 2019 family film and first ever live action Hollywood adaptation of Pokemon which first originated in Japan as a video game which first started from the Gameboy; which came from the joint venture production of Legendary Pictures, Universal Pictures, Warner Bros. Pictures, and Toho under the direction of Rob Letterman and screenplay by Nicole Perlman and Letterman which stars Ryan Reynolds as the voice of Detective Pikachu, with Justice Smith, Kathryn Newton and Ken Watanabe slated for a May 10, 2019 US theatrical release. The 2019 live action Hollywood Pokemon movie is also known as Detective Pikachu is adapted from the Nintendo 3DS game of the same name which was first released in Japan in 2016 and was later localized at around March 2018. The first-ever live-action Pokémon movie, “POKÉMON Detective Pikachu” stars Ryan Reynolds as the titular character in the first-ever live-action movie based on the iconic face of the global Pokémon brand—one of the world’s most popular, multi-generation entertainment properties and most successful media franchises of all time.

Fans everywhere can now experience Pikachu on the big screen as never before, as a talking detective Pikachu, a Pokémon like no other. The film also showcases a wide array of beloved Pokémon characters, each with its own unique abilities and personality.


The story begins when ace private eye Harry Goodman goes mysteriously missing, prompting his 21-year-old son Tim to find out what happened. Aiding in the investigation is Harry’s former Pokémon partner, Detective Pikachu: a hilariously wise-cracking, adorable super-sleuth who is a puzzlement even to himself. Finding that they are uniquely equipped to communicate with one another, Tim and Pikachu join forces on a thrilling adventure to unravel the tangled mystery. Chasing clues together through the neon-lit streets of Ryme City—a sprawling, modern metropolis where humans and Pokémon live side by side in a hyper-realistic live-action world—they encounter a diverse cast of Pokémon characters and uncover a shocking plot that could destroy this peaceful co-existence and threaten the whole Pokémon universe.


“POKÉMON Detective Pikachu” also stars Justice Smith (“Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom”) as Tim; Kathryn Newton (“Lady Bird,” TV’s “Big Little Lies”) as Lucy, a junior reporter following her first big story; and Oscar nominee Ken Watanabe (“Godzilla,” “The Last Samurai”) as Lt. Yoshida.

Directed by Rob Letterman (“Goosebumps,” “Monsters Vs. Aliens”), the “POKÉMON Detective Pikachu” creative filmmaking team includes two-time Oscar nominated director of photography John Mathieson (“The Phantom of the Opera,” “Gladiator”), production designer Nigel Phelps (“Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Lies”) and Oscar-winning editor Mark Sanger (“Gravity”). Visual effects are by Moving Picture Company (“Wonder Woman”) and Framestore (“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2”).


Launched in 1996 to overwhelming response, the Pokémon brand is a global sensation that now encompasses a robust video gaming fandom with over 300 million units sold worldwide; the Pokémon Trading Card Game available in 11 languages with more than 23.6 billion cards shipped; an animated television series in its 21st season that is available in more than 160 countries; and over 20 animated films; as well as books, manga comics, music, toys, merchandise, and apps, including the wildly popular Pokémon GO, that has been downloaded over 850 million times and is enjoyed across the globe by fans of all ages.

“POKÉMON Detective Pikachu” is set for release on Friday, May 10, 2019.

The film will be distributed outside of Japan and China by Warner Bros. Pictures, in Japan by Toho Company, Ltd. and by Legendary East in China.

POKÉMON Detective Pikachu Film Trailer Review


So what is there to say about the POKÉMON: Detective Pikachu official movie trailer? Well, it looks great as most of us have in mind here. This is really the first time that we see a live action adaptation of Pokemon so there isn't nothing really to compare to. We have reach a point in movie history and reality that CGI seems to blend so well with reality and from what we saw from the first Detective Pikachu 2019 film trailer, I am impressed and I am someone who grew up playing the Pokemon series. I was started with Pokemon Yellow version for the original Nintendo Gameboy.





The official press release from the official movie trailer summarize what we saw in it. Shows a little highlights here and there but not enough to ruin the entire film. Given that this is a detective slash mystery film, they ought to keep those elements closely hidden and hopefully doesn't follow the Detective Pikachu Nintnedo 3DS storyline down to a tee. Well, I played (but haven't finished) Detective Pikachu for the 3DS but I can say that it deviated a bit given that the game's protagonist on the game was a young teen while on this one is someone on his later teen or early adulthood. How they also met is much different, so with that hopefully we can be assured that we won't be seeing a carbon copy of the game. Of course, let's address the elephant in the room... Detective Pikachu is adorable! And is voiced by none other than Deadpool slash Green Lantern (don't crucify me for the reference) himself, Ryan Reynolds. Did you know that there was once an an initial strong clamor to let Danny Devito voice Detective Pikachu in both the 3DS game of the same title and later in the movie, but what we get is something similarly cool. Deadpool as the voice of Pikachu. Plus all the CGI goodness and adventure galore, this is shaping up to be a good Hollywood adaptation of a source material originating from Japan which we haven't seen like forever.

Man of Steel Trailer Impressions: Zack Snyder's 2013 Superman Origin Film

Man of Steel is an upcoming Warner Bros. Pictures, Legendary Pictures, Syncopy Films, and DC Entertainment super hero film directed by Zack Snyder, story by Christopher Nolan and (screenplay) David S. Goyer which stars Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, Antje Traue, Ayelet Zurer, and Russell Crowe; slated for a June (Summer) 2013 US theatrical release. The success of Christopher Nolan's Batman film series signaled the creation of an even more serious Hollywood take on Superman's story. Summer of 2013 marks the year when will see the Man of Steel fly again. This new Superman film will be under the wing of the same director who brought us 300 and Watchmen, Zack Snyder with the aid of Christopher Nolan as the man behind the story and producer in bringing Comics' Superman originally by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster back to the big screen.

The Man of Steel will be another origin story of one of the most well-known DC Comics superhero of all time, Superman. The trailer for the Man of Steel film looks very promising besides the fact that Nolan and Snyder will be two well-recognized people working behind this 2013 superhero film. A more compelling origin tale of Superman with amazing visuals and hopefully better story, acting and presentation than what we have been presented before with past Superman television series, animated shows, and past films. We here at CMAQUEST are particularly looking forward to what this potential new film series (ala Nolan's Dark Knight series) has in store for us when it hits the theaters on the Summer of 2013.

Wrath of the Titans Official Trailer Impressions: A Fantasy 3-D Sequel to Clash of the Titans

Wrath of the Titans is is a 2012 fantasy action adventure sequel to 2010's Clash of the Titans which was also loosely based on the 1981 classic Clash of the Titans. Slated for a March 2012 theatrical release will this make up story for a sequel be better than its first film? Let's find out.

Wrath of the Titans picks everything up from where 2010's Clash of the Titans last ended. This means that it is another movie adaptation which is very loosely based on the that title it is based upon, the 1981 Clash of the Titans film, the Greek mythology of Perseus and the War of the Titans. Don't expect to get a reliable information about the story of Perseus and the Olympians here. This is not your school Greek class, but an over the top hyped up Hollywood 3-D fantasy action adventure film. That generally summarizes this 2012 film.



Again it is up to the valiant hero to save the day. Why is it always have to be the meta-human (half-human and half-god) who is responsible for saving the world? Well, it always works and this time the trailer actually looks good. It features a slew of great looking 3-D CGI monsters (Titans). I am just hoping that the script is tighter - no irrelevant words in the script like "Bitch" which is a modern day curse word and should not supposed to even exist during an ancient Greek era); a more polished and seamless 3-D and CGI animation (the conversion to 3-D on the last film was rushed and was very sloppy); a much more decent and convincing acting, and an engaging storyline. All the things I mentioned in that my Wrath of the Titans wishlist is what Clash of the Titans fell short of. Hopefully the studio listened to the feedback and criticism made by critics and movie goers alike. Hope the sequel provides a better movie experience than the first one. A good trailer is essential but what truly matters is the actual film.

The Dark Knight Rises Official Trailer Impressions: Christopher Nolan's Batman Ends with the Rising

The Dark Knight Rises is a 2012 super hero film from Warner Bros. Pictures which stars Christian Bale, Tom Hardy and Anne Hathaway is the third (sequel to 2010's The Dark Knight) and the last Batman film under Christopher Nolan. Christopher Nolan's Batman film series as of this post is said to be the best film adaptation of the popular DC super hero. All good things must eventually come to an end. The epic finale for Christopher Nolan's Batman is soon at hand and for those who watched the first two films , there will be no doubt that they will see this conclusion. For those who haven't seen the first two films, all I can say is that you are missing out on something very special and I suggest you go watched them first if you are curious with this third Batman film installment.



It is a good trailer for Batman 3 The Dark Knight Rises. It didn't spoil the fans of the DC super hero by showing too much of the villains, heck it didn't even showed you Anne Hathaway in her Catwoman costume and Bane in his juiced up hulking form, if that is not effective teasing for Batman i don't know what is. Then we have the very generic plot as to why Batman must eventually come out. But to what part will Selina Kyle/Catwoman play in all of it is still left to movie goers and fans enthusiastic imagination and this is why this is such a great movie trailer. It is a definite recommendation for CMAQUEST, and we can't wait for The Dark Knight Rises July 2012 release.

Jonah Hex - The Face of the Old West's Super Antihero

Another comic book based movie adaptation will soon hit the theaters once again in the form of a rugged old western antihero named Jonah Hex. Jonah Hex movie adaptation is set on the old west and revolves around a bounty hunter bound by a personal code of honor to protect and avenge the innocent at any cost, and when I say at any cost...
