Wreck-It Ralph Trailer Impressions: Disney 3-D Animated Movie with Tons of Video Game References

Wreck-It Ralph is a 2012 3-D animated comedy film from Walt Disney Animation Studios about the story of Wreck-It Ralph, a generic arcade video game bad guy "from Fix-It Felix Jr.", who is determined to prove he can be a good guy. Wreck-It Ralph is directed by Rich Moore featuring the voices of John C. Reilly, Jack McBrayer, Jane Lynch, and Sarah Silverman slated for a November 2, 2012 theatrical release. Plot / Synopsis

Wreck-It Ralph is the 9-foot-tall, 643-pound villain of an 8-bit arcade video game named Fix-It Felix Jr., in which the game's titular hero fixes buildings that Ralph destroys. For thirty years, Ralph has been doing the same job over and over and has become tired of being the bad guy.

Wanting to prove he can be a good guy and not just a villain, Ralph escapes his game through the power cord and lands in Hero's Duty, a first-person shooter where he helps the game's hero, Sergeant Calhoun, battle against "Cy-Bugs", the game's alien invaders. He later enters Sugar Rush, a kart racing game set on tracks made of candies, cookies and other sweets. There, Ralph meets Vanellope von Schweetz, one of the game's characters, who has learned that her game is faced with a dire threat that could affect the entire arcade, and one that Ralph may have inadvertently started.

Faith in Hollywood restored! In times where everything seems to be a rehashed of something, it is rare and a great sigh of relief to see some few gems pop up every once in a while. I don't know, I just feel like Wreck-It Ralph has this very fresh concept using video games as its main selling point.

Having a villain eventually becoming a hero is not really a new idea, but when one entertainment media incorporate it with another entity like a video game it suddenly changes into something new. Being a fan of both films and video games, I just find the trailer for Wreck-It Ralph to be fresh and awesome. It is probably because of the many video game references the film will use, not to mention the cameos of various video game characters as seen in the trailer. This same scenario reminds me of the classic "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" which borrowed cartoon characters from different kids shows and weave them all in into one mega movie. Hopefully this film will achieve what "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" has.

Join the Good Fight: If You Love a Free Internet Society, then Stand Against SOPA and PIPA's Internet Censorship

Where were you when the internet started sucking? Sucking not in the same sense as a technological attack from some malicious hacker(s) or an internet troll, but sucking in a sense that you are no longer able to enjoy the freedom that the internet once was. The Stop Software Piracy Act and its cousin, Protect Intellectual Property Act are these two notorious US Bills proposed to finally put a lid on online piracy, but in expense of completely censoring out the once free internet.

There are possible better bills that the US congress may come up with the future but not in the expense of online censorship. What makes the internet a great place to hang out is the hundreds and thousands of websites and content provider that "borrows" and "utilize" video files (clips and stock footage), music (theme songs, sound effects, sound files, etc), and images which may or may not be copyrighted materials. If ever SOPA, PIPA or any other future bill that has the same content gets passed as a law, then we will all suffer a dull internet, an internet before it was actually "cool". While internet giants like Google and Wikipedia has the power to protest against SOPA and PIPA via a site-wide black-out, I believe CMAQUEST will have a better chance of reaching its US audience and spread awareness to the rest of the visitors of the site to help the fight against this and possible future reiterations of this Bill. Until a rightful online anti-piracy bill is finally created, every bill that the US congress will come out with will be under the world and internet's scrutinizing eyes.

A Classic Makes a Comeback with Tron Legacy

1986' Tron was already a groundbreaking film during it's era and the movie itself seems to have successfully ended right then, but it seems like Disney reopened its universe. Predators - A "Game" of Life and Death

Another classic sci-fi icon will make a comeback this 2010 with "Predators". The popular pop classic predators are back with this sequel to the Arnold Schwarzeneiger's Predator (very first Predator) movie back in 1987. This time join a group of humans as they try to survive a "game" where their lives are at stake.



Predators Synopsis:

Set immediately after the first film, a mercenary named Royce who is abducted by alien creatures known as the Predators. He is released onto an alien planet—which acts as a game reserve—along with seven other humans, who with the exception of a disgraced physician, are all cold-blooded killers consisting of mercenaries and convicts. Royce reluctantly leads the group of elite warriors as they come to realize they have been brought together to this planet as prey for a new breed of Predator. While battling to survive against these creatures, they come across an American soldier known as Noland who was brought to the planet years ago as game, but has managed to survive by hiding from the Predators in a cave. Noland reveals that the Predators have been hunting humans by dropping them on this planet for many years.
