Men in Black: International is a 2019 sci-fi action comedy film starring Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson, Emma Thompson, Liam Neeson and Kumail Nanjiani; under the direction of F. Gary Gray and screenplay from Art Marcum and Matt and Holloway slated for a June 14, 2019 US theatrical release. Stylized as MIB: International, this 2019 spin-off from the original trilogy of Men in Black films which starred Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones, now follows a different set of agents and focuses more on the MIB London office as they face a new villainous alien threat. So what is there to say about the Men in Black: International official movie trailer? Well, it's good to see the expansion of the world of Men in Black which was loosely based from the Malibu/Marvel comics of the same name by Lowell Cunningham. It is good to see some old faces like Frank the Pug, the Worms, and Agent O (played by Emma Thompson), the head of MIB's US branch. Since Agents K (Tommy Lee Jones/Josh Brolin) and J (Will Smith)'s story has ended with the original MIB film trilogy, we now follow two new agents, Agent M (Tessa Thompson) and Agent H (Chris Hemsworth).




We can see that the two leads, Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson, have good chemistry. I think this is what sells this MIB spin-off, get two very likable and charismatic stars who are both from two Marvel movies Thor Ragnarok and 2019's Avengers: Endgame. As of the posting of this blog (June 15, 2019), reviews are coming in for the film ranging from a negative rating to an okay one, only saved by the performance of the two main leads.

Battleship Trailer Impressions: From Classic Board Game to a Naval Warfare Film with Aliens

Battleship is a 2012 action adventure sci-fi naval warfare film from Hasbro Studios based on a popular pad-and-pencil guessing game of the same name. Who would have thought that a seemingly "story-less" guessing game like Battleship could ever be made into film? Well, here is was Hollywood has to offer and you wouldn't expect what they created with this trailer.

Berg directs this epic action-adventure also produced by Scott Stuber (Couples Retreat), Sarah Aubrey (The Kingdom), Brian Goldner and Bennett Schneir of Hasbro (the Transformers franchise), along with Duncan Henderson (Master and Commander) and Jeffrey Silver (300). Back in early 2011, I heard movie rumors that Hollywood is making a movie out of the popular pad-and-pencil naval warfare guessing game of Battleship. The question on my mind back then was how can they make a film out of a seemingly plot-less time waster of a paper game? Well the Battleship film trailer blows me away with its answer.



I give kudos to Hasbro Studios for turning a simple naval war game to a sci fi game of wits with Aliens. Yes, Aliens! To cater to a more geeky and wider audince, Battleship took the sci-fi route and basing from this trailer it works. Hasbro studios being the owner of the Transformers franchise breathe a new life to this classic guessing game. Do not be surprise if the trailer gives of a Transformers film franchise vibe or a Michael Bay-ish type of action sequences and special effects. For it was also Hasbro who gave the green light for the creation of the Transformers film franchise. This is a perfect trailer to build up the hype. It has tons of explosions and good old humans versus aliens type of scenario. the only difference is that it is on water. Hopefully it has a somehow decent plot to hold it all together.

Prometheus Trailer Impressions: A 2012 Sci-Fi Film Set on the Alien Film Series Universe

Prometheus is a 2012 science fiction horror directed by Ridley Scott film distributed by 20th Century Fox. Prometheus is a sci-fi film is said to be a prequel to the Alien film franchise but approached in a different manner. You might see some elements from the Alien film franchise here but don't expect the xenomorphs to be the main antagonist in this 2012 Ridley Scott sci-fil film.

Prometheus Film Trailer Review

Fans to the Aliens film franchise might have mixed emotions with this rumored prequel to alien. The film/trailer might feature some familiar elements to the popular Alien film series, but fans should also understand that it is set prior to the cult classic Alien film which only means one thing, no xenomorphs (monstrosities for all Alien film series), but that doesn't mean that there won't be any horrors that awaits the unfortunate team set on this perilous mission.



It as that very familiar "Inception" music playing in the Prometheus movie trailer's background which either relates to Inception's "epicness" or just some annoying to those who think that this doesn't even come close. In a way the trailer works, both for Alien film fans and to the newer generation of movie goers. What could be the horror behind all of these? Well, this is just the first official trailer for the film, and it is a long way to go before its June "Summer" 2012 release, so it is expected that they will release more and unfortunately spoiler-full trailers. Hopefully they keep that mystery in tact. There aren't many mainstream sci-fi films created nowadays and Prometheus is a just perfect for sci-fi film fans.

Many of us grew up and old patronizing the many by-products of Hasbro's Transformers toy franchise. Whether it is the actual toys (action figures), the many incarnations of the animated series, the more recent films series, and video games; people will always support and look up to this pop culture icon. Gamers have been sick of being presented with poorly conceived and developed Transformers video games that is until the release of Transformers: War of Cybertron back in June 2010. It re-imagined and masterfully crafted the story behind the dispute between Autobots and Decepticons in video game format. With tight game play and mechanics, good storyline, and familiar characters (and even voices), the game was herald to be the best Transformers game ever. Transformers: War of Cybertron ended with a cliffhanger and that is where Cybertron: Fall of Cybertron picks up.



The trailer looks amazing. Whether you are a fan or not, it cannot be denied that the trailer looks, sounds and feels right. A superbly crafted video game cinematic trailer. There sure will be future actual game trailers with game mechanics ad all, but this game trailer alone is already enough to effectively market the title. Being a video game sequel there is a lot of expectations for the developers of this 2012 Fall title. To whether this would be the last of this video game series or not, Transformers fans and gamers who played the first game will be looking forward at the progression of the story and the overall improvements it will implement on this video game sequel.

The intergalactic secret organization called the Men in Black and its top Agents J (Will Smith) and K (Tommy Lee Jones) are once again back for the third time. I for one am excited for this third MIB film.



Just seeing the two Agents back for the third time is already enough to make fans of the past two Men in Black films and animated series excited. J must eventually uncover the mystery behind K's disappearance by traveling back in time through a "time jump". This is the perfect first trailer for Men in Black 3 as it provides enough mystery to attract old and new movie goers to check it out. There will be more Men in Black movie trailers on the weeks to come, but this MIB3 first trailer is more than enough to make fans excited and curious as to what are the secrets behind K's disappearance and a possible intergalactic threat.

John Carter Trailer Impressions: A CGI-Filled Epic Alien World War with... Humans?

John Carter is a 2012 epic sci-fi film featuring the main protagonist of the Barsoom series of novels by the highly acclaimed pulp fiction author Edgar Rice Burrough (1875 –1950) who also created Tarzan the King of the Jungle. Although here have been various of publications featuring John Carter, this is the first time that Hollywood made it to a grandiose epic of a film slated for a March 2012 release. Plot / Synopsis

The film is largely based on A Princess of Mars, the first novel to feature John Carter. The novel was originally published as a magazine serial in 1912 and then brought out in book form in 1917. In the novel John Carter is an American Civil War veteran who is miraculously transported to Mars, known to its inhabitants as Barsoom. He is immediately captured by a race of green-skinned barbarians who are 12 feet (4 meters) tall, having six limbs and long tusks. Formerly an Earthlike world, Barsoom has become less hospitable to life over the millennia. As its oceans evaporated and its atmosphere thinned, Barsoom's inhabitants became hardened and warlike, constantly fighting one another to survive. Barsoomian society thus devolved into partial barbarism.

Carter befriends the Green Martian Tars Tarkas and rescues a humanoid Red Martian princess, Dejah Thoris, from the Tharks, a belligerent tribe of Green Martians. He gains the Barsoomians' respect with his superior strength and fighting ability. Carter ultimately enlists the Green Martians' assistance in winning a war waged by Dejah Thoris' people, and he saves all Martians from asphyxiation when the planet's atmosphere factory malfunctions.

John Carter Trailer Review

When I saw the first trailer of John Carter I said to myself "Hmm... okay. This looks like it is going to be a decent sci-fi film". After the second trailer was released this December 2011 my expectation was raised a couple of notch. Do not get me wrong it looks really epic and it is made by Walt Disney but the trailer looks cartoonish and some scenes (in the trailer) does not look convincing (Yeah, as if humans being teleported to fight a Marsians fight is realistic hahahaha). Not convincing that the blending of the live human actors and the CGI seems off, as seen on the very first screen cap on this Johhn Carter trailer review. It might just be the quality of the trailer, but I do hope that this would not be the case when it finally hits the theaters on March 2012.



Upon additional research regarding the John Carter 2012 film, I found out that it is actually a movie adaptation of a classic. John Carter was one of the masterpieces of author Edgar Rice Burrough who also created Tarzan. Well, we are all familiar with Tarzan, so this time it is John Carter's turn to introduced itself to the newer generation of movie goers and readers. With that note, I started to appreciate this 2012 Walt Disney title a little more, and now CMAQUEST puts John Carter on its "2012 to-watch list". Hope Walt Disney does not disappoint with this movie adaptation of the 1912 John Carter.

The Darkest Hour Trailer Impressions: How to Survive an Energy Devouring Alien Invasion

The Darkest Hour is a 2011 science-fiction alien invasion themed film slated for a December release from Summit Entertainment and 20th Century Fox. Aliens will never go away. Just when you thought that you have seen it all, comes a new film that somehow gives it a fresh take. At least that is what The Darkest Hour official film trailer tries to showcase. Did it work? In a way, YES!



Well at least we are given a fresh perspective on an Alien invasion, a Russian one. But do not mistake this as a Russian film, the setting is only in Russia, but the main survivors (protagonists) speaks the international language. The trailer has teased film fans enough to make them go see how will the world survive an invasion from alien energy-devouring light orbs. Upon seeing the trailer one can also ask if to whether these light orbs are indeed formless energy-devouring lights or there are some diabolical alien creature using this as a shield. The mystery of finding out about this is will drive people to watch this. The Darkest Hour gets a nice recommendation for CMAQUEST, as this is now on my "to watch" list.

Beyond Earth and the Teenage World with I Am Number Four

I Am Number Four is a science fiction film adaptation of the novel of the same name written by Jobie Hughes and James Frey. With Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg working as producers under DreamWorks, there is a great chance that this film is going to be a phenomenal blockbuster hit. I am Number Four will hopefully deliver and hit the theaters by February 18, 2011.

Nine infant aliens, who closely resemble humans, flee their home planet, Lorien, to hide on Earth. An invading species, the Mogadorians, have destroyed their planet, and follow them to Earth to hunt them down. These last children of Lorien can only be killed in the sequence of their numbers.

Numbers One, Two, and Three have been killed so far.
Number Four (Alex Pettyfer), also named John Smith, moves to Paradise, Ohio, disguised as an American high school student. He makes a friend, Sarah Hart (Dianna Agron), a sweet Midwestern girl who is a photographer. It's been a while since we last saw a giant monster/alien film in the big screen, this year it will make a come back with the British science fiction film Monsters. Follow the journey of two characters as they went through various ordeals which depicts real world themes like the division of North America from the South America, biological warfare and its consequences, and the military power and civilian protest, and refugees.

Predators - A "Game" of Life and Death

Another classic sci-fi icon will make a comeback this 2010 with "Predators". The popular pop classic predators are back with this sequel to the Arnold Schwarzeneiger's Predator (very first Predator) movie back in 1987. This time join a group of humans as they try to survive a "game" where their lives are at stake.



Predators Synopsis:

Set immediately after the first film, a mercenary named Royce who is abducted by alien creatures known as the Predators. He is released onto an alien planet—which acts as a game reserve—along with seven other humans, who with the exception of a disgraced physician, are all cold-blooded killers consisting of mercenaries and convicts. Royce reluctantly leads the group of elite warriors as they come to realize they have been brought together to this planet as prey for a new breed of Predator. While battling to survive against these creatures, they come across an American soldier known as Noland who was brought to the planet years ago as game, but has managed to survive by hiding from the Predators in a cave. Noland reveals that the Predators have been hunting humans by dropping them on this planet for many years.

War of The Worlds: Goliath - The Inevitable War

The classic 1898 alien-invasion novel by H.G. Wells War of the Worlds has been remade into several movie adaptations and the last notable one is Steven Spielberg's modern version of "War of the Worlds"(2005). This time it is going to be adapted into an unofficial sequel animated movie through War of the Worlds: Goliath.

It’s an R rated, retro-history, steam-punk epic set in 1914, fourteen years after the first failed Martian invasion. Mankind has rebuilt her cities and military by adapting a lot of the abandoned Martian technology. District 9 - The Segragation and Hunt for Monopoly Begins

District 9 is a 2009 science fiction film which takes place 28 years after the discovery that humans are not alone in the universe. A testimony of this is when an alien ship made contact on Earth.



The humans waited for the aliens to attack or to exchange technologies, which can be the latest milestone when it comes to science and technology but neither of which took place. These aliens where the last of their kind and have taken refuge on Earth. The conflict arises when humans wanted to take control of the alien's technology and weaponry but failed to do so until one unfortunate soul gets smack between that conflict.
