Film Trailer Review

I've always wondered what some popular franchise would be like if they were to become an mmorpg. Besides Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh!, one title in particular I've imagined was the expansive world or Marvel Universe. If DC has done it with their DC Universe Online, so why can't Marvel? ...and Marvel did and they unveiled it in San Diego Comic-Con International.

Marvel Heroes SDCC 2012 gameplay teaser thing in hell's kitchen

When I first saw the gameplay stage demo video from gamespot, my initial impressions was this is just like that facebook (social network) game called Marvel Avengers Alliance except much more Diablo-like. Well (for me), it is good that it went to a development team lead by someone who have worked with Diablo I and II. Well the development team still have a long way to work wit on this Marvel MMO, hopefully they'll try to listen as to what both mmo fans and Marvel fans have in their mind.

Marvel Heroes SDCC 2012 Gameplay Preview Featuring Hulk and Deadpool versus Hydra Soldiers in Marvel MMO

I said earlier that Marvel has an expansive universe. This game is not simply a game featuring the Avengers, the X-Men, or solo popular Marvel icons but the whole universe itself, thus why being entitled with Marvel Heroes. Both the Marvel Heroes Dev Diary and Gamespot SDCC 2012 Demo gave us a big tease and sneak peek at what kind of mmo this is going to be like. It adapts to a newer forms of story-based mmo and will be presented both via motion comics and live in-game 3-D cut scenes. We also all know that free-to-play is not completely free, right? A game need resources to function and this is where costumes comes in. This is the main selling point to any mmorpg. Why run as an ordinary character looking like every Wolverines or Hulks in this Marvel MMO when you can simply pour in some extra money to purchase a Planet Hulk Costume or Scarlet Spider Costume with additional stat boosts? Also, the game holds a lot of promise as there have been hundreds, if not thousands of individual Marvel titles and heroes whose adventures have taken them to places. These places can be the expandable maps offered in one go or through monthly updates. Fans will feel right at home when the characters they control are running in the Savage Lands, Latveria, Hell's Kitchen, Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, Sinister's Lab, and many more. Marvel Heroes is definitely one promising free to play action mmorpg coming to PC this 2013.

Deadpool has become one of Marvel Comcs most beloved characters because of his deadly combat abilities and humor. Deadpool is popular for being the only character aware that he is in a comic and has a habit of repeatedly breaking the fourth wall. This is what Marvel teased everyone this San Diego Comic-Con International 2012 with the release of Deadpool the Video Game's Teaser Trailer.

Deadpool SDCC 2012 Video Game Teaser Trailer featuring the Merc with a Mouth Breaking the Fourth Wall of video games

It is both surprising and not for a video game trailer. Not surprising because Deadpool is known to break the fourth wall and if he can't do that in his own video game then that would not be a Deadpool video game. I is quite surprising on the other hand to have a teaser trailer that feature that heavy blood gore, mild profane language and a reference to an old yet notorious "video" featuring a "cup". This is just a teaser and all what is featured in this SDCC 2012 teaser trailer may not even be included in the actual finished product. Let's just hope that they make a good Deadpool video game. The merc with a mouth finally received his own video game and it is only fitting to give him justice right?

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 Video Game Debut Trailer Impressions

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 is a direct sequel to 2010's Castlevania: Lords of Shadow with a yet to be announced release date. Konami with the help MercurySteam and Kojima Productions has successfully revitalized and transitioned their popular sidescrolling platformer game franchise Castlevania into an action-adventure 3rd person game for the Xbox 350 and the Playstation 3 back at 2010 with Castlevania: Lords of Shadow. Although a reboot, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow got a fairly positive reception from its old and newer audiences. The 2010 Castlevania reboot may have looked like another God of War clone, but it can't be deny that it still has the same elements that made Castlevania Castlevania.

Castlevania Lords of Shadow 2 Gabriel Belmont as Dracul possessing the Forgotten One's powers

Classic Castlevania gamers are treated with another take, a new origin story of the main antagonist in the series. Castlevania: Lords of Shadow followed the tragic tale of Gabriel Belmont. Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 picks up where Castlevania: Lords of Shadow's "Resurrection" DLC drops off. The trailer seems to imply that Gabriel now known as Dracula is more of a menace than a savior as he face off with battle-born knights, but having the sinister and diabolical power of the Forgotten One in him he easily sweep off these warriors... until one seemingly familiar character is the only one left to challenge him. Most Castlevania fans speculate that this mysterious character is Alucard (Adrian Fahrenheit Tepes), the son of Dracula from Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Castlevania Legends, Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow, Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow, Castlevania: Judgment. Although it might be a treat to see another familiar character in the Castlevania reboot for the seventh generation consoles, fans should take this teaser trailer with a grain of salt. Alucard may or may not be a playable character in the game, not to mention the mysterious character might not even be Alucard himself. Still this is a decent trailer and if you played or wanted more from Castlevania: Lords of Shadow (2010) then you'll definitely would want to get your hands on this sequel.

Transformers: Fall of Cybertron
Plot / Synopsis

Fall of Cybertron continues the story from Transformers: War for Cybertron with the civil war between the Autobots and the Decepticons over control of their home world, Cybertron. The developer, High Moon Studios, hopes to show a darker tone than the original game; as Game Informer states, this game "changes and improves upon so many of the fundamental ideas that the developer considers the game a natural successor rather than a true sequel." Fall of Cybertron depicts the final battle between the two robot factions which results in the destruction of their home world, forcing the Autobots to seek refuge in our galaxy, the Milky Way. Characters expected to appear in the game include: Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Cliffjumper, Grimlock, Ironhide, Jazz, Megatron, Blast Off, Brawl, Bruticus, Onslaught, Shockwave, Soundwave, Starscream, Swindle and Vortex.

Many of us grew up and old patronizing the many by-products of Hasbro's Transformers toy franchise. Whether it is the actual toys (action figures), the many incarnations of the animated series, the more recent films series, and video games; people will always support and look up to this pop culture icon. Gamers have been sick of being presented with poorly conceived and developed Transformers video games that is until the release of Transformers: War of Cybertron back in June 2010. It re-imagined and masterfully crafted the story behind the dispute between Autobots and Decepticons in video game format. With tight game play and mechanics, good storyline, and familiar characters (and even voices), the game was herald to be the best Transformers game ever. Transformers: War of Cybertron ended with a cliffhanger and that is where Cybertron: Fall of Cybertron picks up.

The trailer looks amazing. Whether you are a fan or not, it cannot be denied that the trailer looks, sounds and feels right. A superbly crafted video game cinematic trailer. There sure will be future actual game trailers with game mechanics ad all, but this game trailer alone is already enough to effectively market the title. Being a video game sequel there is a lot of expectations for the developers of this 2012 Fall title. To whether this would be the last of this video game series or not, Transformers fans and gamers who played the first game will be looking forward at the progression of the story and the overall improvements it will implement on this video game sequel.
