The Hunter Film Trailer Review

There is something very interesting about the unknown, about mythical things, species that ceased to exist. This is probably why it is interesting to check out a serious film that somehow plays on such myths and rumors. The big question is how would they make a film that piques the curiosity of people about something that once was while having an engaging and engrossing effect. Well The Hunter seems to pull that off (for me that is).

The Hunter 2011 movie adaptation 2012 us release the tasmanian tiger

After watching the trailer for The Hunter, it made me search for the extinct Tasmanian Tiger and to me the creature was very ordinary, although the thought that one or two of its kind might still exist would be very interesting. A film that features the beauty of Tasmania and the myth/rumor of the existence of the Tasmanian Tiger is what this film uses, but we all know that it is more of the mystery andthe characters hunting it. The film was aptly named "The Hunter" right? The trailer looks good and I don't mind catching it once its out this 2012.

Although the world has not completely rid itself of war, most of its parts have been enjoying peace and freedom. But before all of these came to be, there once were bloody and pointless war. It was a hard time to live during those time and we can only imagine the horrors of what it was like. War films usually provide us the knowledge and awareness of our history and the right decisions to correct those mistakes.

I grew up watching the Tom Cruise Mission: Impossible film series. Every movie under the M:I series has been consistent in providing great entertainment. The action sequences might be over the top sometimes but they are still tolerable. Not to mention that LSS-inducing theme song that the Mission: Impossible film series has been known for.

We are once again reacquainted with Ethan Hunt and luckily he still has his job as a spy for great old Uncle Sam. This time they go really dark and under the radar to once again uncover some conspiracy with tons of action, betrayal, and conspiracies. There is nothing left to say. All expectations are high on this fourth Mission: Impossible Series. It is a no-brainer Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol gets an automatic recommendation from us for spy and action fans alike.

The Wicker Tree Trailer Impressions: A Spiritual Successor to 1973's The Wicker Man

The Wicker Tree is a 2011 horror thriller film which contains various elements from the 1973 horror cult classic The Wicker Man. The Wicker Tree is based on a novel written by Robin Hardy who was also the director of The Wicker Man (1973). Will this spiritual successor be as popular as its cult classic brother? Find it out here.

Plot / Synopsis

Based on Hardy's own 2006 novel Cowboys for Christ, the film focuses on Texas pop star turned gospel singer, Beth (Brittania Nicol) and her cowboy boyfriend, Steve (Henry Garrett), both devout evangelical Christians from the church Cowboys for Christ, sent on a mission to spread the word of God to the people of Scotland.

I am as confused as most of you when I watched the trailer for this film. There are cowboys, abduction, running ladies, a burning three, and sacrifices. In my honest opinion this trailer is not effective to build a hype.

The Wicker Tree 2011 movie trailer impressions film trailer reviews psychological thriller cmaquest

After researching though, an interest sparked. The Wicker Tree is said to be the spiritual successor of the 1973 cult classic "The Wicker Man", not the 2008 unofficial American remake of The Wicker Man starring Nicholas Cage. This time, this spiritual successor has all the blessings of the man who directed the 1973 cult classic for this was also based on his own novel. But going back to the trailer, if you are not familiar with the 1973 film, then this trailer can be a very confusing. It is not "new generation of movie goer" friendly as all it sows are the positive reviews stated by film critics. Given that it is that good, it is still is not enough to make one excited to go see it if ever it gets to be released this 2011. Take note that this trailer is released on December 8, 2011 and there is no exact date when it will be released, so it might be this December or next year. If they are trying to create another cult classic then they might be ale to pull it off. But like other cult classics, this title might be off on everyone's radar and people will only able to appreciate this film after some fifty or so years.

The Darkest Hour Trailer Impressions: How to Survive an Energy Devouring Alien Invasion

The Darkest Hour is a 2011 science-fiction alien invasion themed film slated for a December release from Summit Entertainment and 20th Century Fox. Hollywood has brought us various reiterations of how an alien invasion might happen, but they usually involve some solid and visible threat that everyone might easily fight back or be afraid of, but The Darkest Hour takes a fresh take on it. Want to know what we are talking about? Then check out the trailer review for The Darkest Hour.

The Darkest Hour 2011 Film Trailer Review

The Darkest Hour
Plot / Synopsis

The Darkest Hour follows five young people who find themselves stranded in Moscow, fighting to survive in the wake of a devastating alien attack. The 3D action-thriller highlights the classic beauty of Moscow alongside mind-blowing special effects from the minds of visionary filmmaker Timur Bekmambetov and director Chris Gorak. While most films about alien invasions are centered in the United States or have an international scale, Bekmambetov's involvement ensured the premise to be an alien invasion from Russia's perspective.

Aliens will never go away. Just when you thought that you have seen it all, comes a new film that somehow gives it a fresh take. At least that is what The Darkest Hour official film trailer tries to showcase. Did it work? In a way, YES!

Well at least we are given a fresh perspective on an Alien invasion, a Russian one. But do not mistake this as a Russian film, the setting is only in Russia, but the main survivors (protagonists) speaks the international language. The trailer has teased film fans enough to make them go see how will the world survive an invasion from alien energy-devouring light orbs. Upon seeing the trailer one can also ask if to whether these light orbs are indeed formless energy-devouring lights or there are some diabolical alien creature using this as a shield. The mystery of finding out about this is will drive people to watch this. The Darkest Hour gets a nice recommendation for CMAQUEST, as this is now on my "to watch" list.

The Thing Trailer Impressions: It's The Thing All Over Again

If there is one thing that we could either be thankful or hateful towards Hollywood, it is for doing remakes or reboots of classic films. This time Universal Pictures makes a prequel to the popular 1982 sci-fi horror classic "The Thing", with "The Thing".

the thing 2011 sci-fi horror

The Thing
Plot

Taking place three days before the events of the John Carpenter 1982 film. Paleontologist Kate Lloyd (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) joins a Norwegian scientific team that has stumbled across a crashed extraterrestrial spaceship buried in the ice of Antarctica. They discover a creature that seems to have died in the crash eons ago.

When an experiment frees the alien from its frozen prison, Kate joins the crew's pilot, Carter (Joel Edgerton), to keep it from killing and imitating them one at a time, using its uncanny ability to mimic any life form it absorbs through digestion, and potentially reaching civilization.

Trailer Reviews

Although people who have seen the 1982 classic "The Thing" knows what the creature (antagonist) look like, the teaser doesn't show it in action and that is a good thing. We personally think that trailers must not give everything away but piques movie goers interest to go see it. Hollywood has been guilty of showing too much on their trailers and luckily "The Thing" doesn't fall under such terrible marketing campaign. Well let's keep our fingers crossed that it would still do on future teaser releases.

universal pictures the thing prequel trailer

Being a prequel and all, it is nice to see what is the origin story of another horror classic. Also as being a prequel, you might already have an idea on the outcome of the film, but it would still be interesting to watch The Thing all over again.

Captain America: The First Avenger Trailer 2 Impressions

2011 is shaping up pretty well for Marvel fans, as they are presented with two decent superhero movie adaptations. First was with Thor and now with Captain America: The First Avenger this July. There is already been a trailer for Captain America but we will be focusing more on Captain America: The First Avenger trailer 2. Here is my impressions of it.

Captain America: The First Avenger
Plot

In 1942, Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) is deemed physically unfit to enlist in the U.S. Army and fight the Nazis in World War II. Volunteering instead for Project: Rebirth, a secret military operation, he is physically transformed into a super-soldier dubbed Captain America. With sidekick Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), he fights the Red Skull (Hugo Weaving), Hitler's treacherous head of advanced weaponry, whose own plan for world domination involves a seemingly magical object known as the Tesseract.

It is basically another origin movie basing on the film and I am just fine with that. How can you establish a hero without knowing his origins first. Expect a lot of a classic 1940's set up on the film as it is both a period film and a superhero film rolled into one. Hopefully the humor and the plot isn't so much dated. Although we already know that it also concerns about the "cosmic cube" which is is foreground from the Thor's after credits. I also believe that it will also be the main element in the upcoming avengers film.

The trailer looks promising. Another summer blockbuster film from Marvel whether it sucks or not, expect people to flock the theaters this July 2011. How about you guys, what do you think about this trailer. Share your thoughts at the comments section below:

A real good horror trailer teases the senses of potential film audience to see the film in theaters. Although "Don't Be Afraid of the Dark" does that, it fails to keep one important element, the creatures. They obviously showed what the creatures looks like in this film. Here is what I am talking about.

don't be afraid of the dark 2011 American horror film by guillermo del toro

It is no Nightmare on Elm Street with Freddie, Child's Play with Chucky, or even Aliens with the Aliens. These sort of movies should reserved the big reveal on the actual film itself, but this trailer doesn't. What will make movie audience go see it is what intentions do these demons have and how will the story progress. Even with such minor trailer gripes, the Don't Be Afraid of the Dark Trailer is pretty good and is probably worth checking out when it hits the theaters especially if you are a horror film fan.
