Plot / Synopsis

Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension follows supernatural occurrences that take place in a newly moved family's home in Palo Alto, California. The family consists of four members including Ryan, a game developer, Ryan's wife Emily, a stay-at-home mom described as "more serious than her young husband—she's constantly on the go, does yoga, and though loving, has an air of maturity about her", their 6-year old daughter Leila, described as "a fearless, opinionated tomboy", and Ryan's younger brother described as a "less fit, less funky version of his brother". The brothers find tapes of young Katie and Kristi being taught supernatural abilities by their grandmother. Despite the video being filmed 20 years ago, Katie breaks the fourth wall by noticing the brothers' presence. They also find a camera which can see paranormal phenomena that the human eye can't see. With Leila being targeted by supernatural forces, Ryan must find a way to protect his daughter before it is too late.

So what can we say about the Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension? Well, it looks like a little more effort has been put to this sixth entry in the Paranormal Activity movie franchise as it should; this is after all the final installment. I can see it now, fans and those followers of the horror movie franchise is thinking... "What!!! This is the last Paranormal Activity movie on the series? Where can we get our fix of the found footage format helped spearheaded by this series?" It is a little known fact that the Paranormal Activity has helped popularized the found footage format of horror films these days as how its predecessor The Blair Witch Project in the past. Movie critics or the general movie going audience will either love or hate it, but one thing is for sure; amidst its low-budget nature it has reached a sixth movie and people has seen this film and that says quite a lot. Says a lot either for the Paranormal film franchise in general or the movie going audience.


The trailer picks off from where the last film left off, another unknowing family moving in only to be subjected to the same horrors as what previous families were in. What happened to the sisters? What will happen in this final chapter? Will it finally tie it all up in a beautiful red ribbon of blood and chaos closing the series entirely? Are they certain that the film studious would want to close this high successful (?) horror movie franchise this 2015? Those are some of the question that will hopefully be answered in the final Paranormal Activity movie, Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension.

Bone Tomahawk is an American western horror film from Caliber Media Company under the screenplay and direction by S. Craig Zahler which stars Kurt Russell, Patrick Wilson, Matthew Fox, Richard Jenkins, Lili Simmons, David Arquette, Sid Haig, and Sean Young with an October 23, 2015 limited theatrical release. What can we say about the Bone Tomahawk official movie trailer? Well, it is really nothing new as there have been past horror in a western settings that has a similar vibe to it; features a group of cowboys (and at times Indians) on a quest to find somone or discover something then eventually gets picked off by the film's featured monster. I don't know if it was intentional or an accident but there have been information (in the Joblo Youtube video trailer source) that the big bad in Bone Tomahawk are "cannibalistic cave dwellers", well guess that somehow took out the mystery behind what the trailers alludes to.


Well the film's biggest strength is with its lead, mainly Kurt Russell. This ensure that the film has at least decent performance from the all star male lead. Could very well work but it is usually the women being included in the slaughter or a film having the "last girl" which makes most horror films endearing. We'll see if Bone Tomahawk can pull successful scares. There aren't also that many Western horror films and this is a welcome addition. Did the trailer tells so much about the movie? Well, probably; but at least it didn't show what the film's monster (cannibalistic cave dwellers) looks like.

The Forest is a 2016 horror movie trailer from Lava Bear Films under the direction by Jason Zada with screenplay from David S. Goyer, Nick Antosca, Ben Ketai, and Sarah Cornwell which stars Natalie Dormer, Taylor Kinney, and Eoin Macken slated for a January 2016 theatrical release. What can we say about The Forest (2016) official movie trailer? Well, to what we can make of the film from the official trailer we can tell that there are quite a few (cheap) jump scares which you will either love or hate. Well this is an American film but somehow I kind of feel that Hollywood is emulating more of what makes Japanese horror endearing. Japan has quite a massive folklore and unique culture to work with; this is probably why they are able to effectively pull off good scares unlike that of the US horror films as of recent memory. This is maybe we are seeing more and more US adaptation of Asian horror or Western horror films setting up shop in Asia, mainly Japan. The Forest is still an American horror and it shows with the horror mascot it prefer to show on the trailer, a man with whose decayed faced is visible on the sack placed in his head. I don't know maybe the guy has some significance to the story; could be quite disappointing if he has none.


The premise is nothing really groundbreaking, a sister starts seeking out her twin who was reported to last seen in Japan's Suicide Forest in Aokigahara which is at the foot of Mt. Fuji and once there horror ensues. I don't know but basing from the Wiki entry that the film is categorized as a horror and a thriller. I can sense that this is heading more of a psychological thriller route and the vivid images we see might just be in the head of Sara, or I don't know maybe there is a "paranormal" connection. The question is will that mystery makes you want to go see the film when it hits the theater on January 2016?

What is there to say about Ash vs. Evil Dead first official trailer? Sheer awesomeness. Well that is how it seems to those who adored or grown to like Bruce Campbell and the Evil Dead film franchise. In a television industry saturated by gritty and serious take on zombies and demons, it is refreshing to see a high budget series that is an official sequel to one of the most nostalgic zombie-demon movie horror comedy classic.


I am loving the practical effects and zombie-deamons featured so far in the trailer. Ash can now wield magic? Did you see how he seemingly use the "force" to summon that signature chainsaw? It is also refreshing to see Lucy Lawless together with Bruce Campbell (Remembers Xena: Warrior Princess Days).The first Ash vs. Evil Dead tv trailer pays homage to the first three films by showing some vivid flashbacks showing that this is part of the continuum. A sequel that could give justice and explain things that will was left by the Army of Darkness. How did Ash get to the normal timeline or reality? What has Ash been doing all this time letting deadites loose to kill? Hopefully that will all soon be answered once Ash vs. Evil Dead will premiere on Starz this October 2015.

Mama Trailer Impressions: A Mother's Undying Love

Mama is an upcoming 2013 Universal Pictures horror drama film directed by Andres Muschietti starring Jessica Chastain, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Megan Charpentier, Isabelle Nelisse, and Daniel Kash. Mama Film Trailer Review

2013 offers a film featuring a mother's "undying" love with Mama. The only question is, "Is she even human?". Adults are puzzled as to how can two kids survived on their own for five years in the wild. Well, the catch is they weren't alone.

The trailer for mama looks good and features some creepy moments in the film. My only complaint is that they already included what "mama" looks like as seen in this trailer impressions for this 2013 horror movie. Even so, my curiosity is piqued. I am curious as to what is the nature of mama. Is she a ghost, malevolent spirit, an elemental, or what? What is her objective for haunting the guardian of the children she protected for five years? Is there really a haunting to begin with? Some movies play its audience well. They lure you in only to deliver a sucker punch of a twist or plot device in the end or later half of the film. Sometimes it is fresh and engaging, but usually it doesn't which could very well ruin the film. Let's just hope that it won't be the case with Mama.

A real good horror trailer teases the senses of potential film audience to see the film in theaters. Although "Don't Be Afraid of the Dark" does that, it fails to keep one important element, the creatures. They obviously showed what the creatures looks like in this film. Here is what I am talking about.


It is no Nightmare on Elm Street with Freddie, Child's Play with Chucky, or even Aliens with the Aliens. These sort of movies should reserved the big reveal on the actual film itself, but this trailer doesn't. What will make movie audience go see it is what intentions do these demons have and how will the story progress. Even with such minor trailer gripes, the Don't Be Afraid of the Dark Trailer is pretty good and is probably worth checking out when it hits the theaters especially if you are a horror film fan.
