The Forest Film Trailer Review

What can we say about The Forest (2016) official movie trailer? Well, to what we can make of the film from the official trailer we can tell that there are quite a few (cheap) jump scares which you will either love or hate. Well this is an American film but somehow I kind of feel that Hollywood is emulating more of what makes Japanese horror endearing. Japan has quite a massive folklore and unique culture to work with; this is probably why they are able to effectively pull off good scares unlike that of the US horror films as of recent memory. This is maybe we are seeing more and more US adaptation of Asian horror or Western horror films setting up shop in Asia, mainly Japan. The Forest is still an American horror and it shows with the horror mascot it prefer to show on the trailer, a man with whose decayed faced is visible on the sack placed in his head. I don't know maybe the guy has some significance to the story; could be quite disappointing if he has none.

The premise is nothing really groundbreaking, a sister starts seeking out her twin who was reported to last seen in Japan's Suicide Forest in Aokigahara which is at the foot of Mt. Fuji and once there horror ensues. I don't know but basing from the Wiki entry that the film is categorized as a horror and a thriller. I can sense that this is heading more of a psychological thriller route and the vivid images we see might just be in the head of Sara, or I don't know maybe there is a "paranormal" connection. The question is will that mystery makes you want to go see the film when it hits the theater on January 2016?

Deadpool Film Trailer Review

So what is there to say about the Deadpool redband trailer? Well, what isn't there to say about the Deadpool redband trailer but it captures the essence of Deadpool or whatever that means. 20th Century Fox make amends from the Deadpool travesty that was X-Men Origins: Wolverine with a more loyal to its source material, the fourth wall breaking foul-mouthed Merc with the mouth. It is a treat to see the story of the well-beloved pop culture character and icon finally realized and properly given justice to. With Ryan Reynolds being a big Deadpool fan himself and the film opting out for a more Mature rating than a PG film. If a Deadpool film want to be taken seriously, it can never be rated under the PG rating.

The trailer which initially debuted in TBS' Conan (Check out the clip here) has gore, violence, and uncensored language that easily alarmed and conservative parents would never let their children watch. But for those who fell in love with the character, whether those who are big comic book fans or just like me who happens to stumble over the character of Deadpool a few years back, this film with its casting and overall feel is looking good for this 2016 Marvel - 20th Century Fox film. This trailer is already enough to build the hype when Deadpool comes to theaters by February 2016 and I'll definitely see it.

DC's Legends of Tomorrow Trailer Impression: The CW's Justice Society for DC Television Universe

DC's Legends of Tomorrow or simply Legends of Tomorrow, is 2016 U.S, superhero television series which will be aired on The CW with an unspecified date in 2016. This superhero team-up series is a spin-off from The CW's successful Arrow and The Flash television series existing in the same fictional DC Television universe. What is the Legends of Tomorrow first look trailer has in store for its DC and television followers? Let's check it out here.

The CW DC's Legends of Tomorrow
Premise

Time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter must assemble a disparate group of both heroes and villains to confront an unstoppable threat to the planet…and to time itself. DC's Legends of Tomorrow is coming soon to The CW.

Legends of Tomorrow TV Trailer Review

Now on to the meaty part! As a big fan of the new contemporary superhero television series, the DC's Legend of Tomorrow first look is simply bad-ass. We know that not everyone will be satisfied with how DC will interpret the beloved DC characters and storyline, and this is why DC is doing it right when they separated the DC Cinematic Universe from the DC Television Universe. Most of those familiar with the DC Comics Universe have expressed that this is the Justice Society made for television which is spot on as the Justice Society and its incarnations are simply various DC superheroes teaming up minus Batman and Superman. Well, for a detailed explanation or break down of what Justice Society is, you can always check the Justice Society on Wikipedia. Who knows they might make an appearance (this is me with a wishful thinking).

The Legends of Tomorrow cast of characters includes Dr. Martin Stein a.k.a Firestorm (played by Victor Garber), Ray Palmer a.k.a The Atom (Brandon Routh), Sara Lance a.k.a. White Canary (Caity Lotz), Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill), Kendra Saunders a.k.a. Hawkgirl (Ciara Renée), Mick Rory a.k.a. Heat Wave (Dominic Purcell), Leonard Snart a.k.a Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller), Vixen, and Vandal Savage appearing as the main antagonist of the season. Well of course Arrow and Flash will be making their appearance on the show but this series will be more focused on it's main protagonists mainly Atom, Firestorm, Hawkgirl, Vixen, Rip Hunter, White Canary, Captain Cold, and Heatwave. Since it is going to be in 2016, the guys at The CW have a lot of time setting up characters like Hawkgirl with its own spin-off series and how Sara Lance formerly known as Black Canary lived to become the White Canary. It gives off an Avenger (movie) feel to it when the Legends goes up against Savage's men. Well it is only natural for an "immortal" super villain mastermind to have minions, right? Why do we need a band of unlikely team if there isn't anyone to pummel? Also The Atom finally shrinks. Will he show it in Flash and Arrow television series is beyond me, but The Atom's original ability form the DC comics universe is to shrink (equibvalent to Marvel's Ant-man). I am also looking forward to see the chemistry and how the varying attitude of the team blends in given that it is a mixture of heroes and villains (referencing the Flash being double-crossed by Captain Cold in the Flash season one television series.)

How about you guys? What do you think about the upcoming 2016 DC superhero team-up created for television by The CW? Is the trailer enough to build hype? What do you thin of the premise, the mixture of superhero and villain line-up? Share your thoughts on DC's Legends of Tomorrow first look trailer in the comments section below:
