CBS Supergirl Trailer Impressions: Superman's Cousin Taking over Television

Supergirl is a 2015 U.S. superhero television series set to air on CBS and will debut in November 2015 with Melissa Benoist as Supergirl. CBS Supergirl television series is based from DC Comics character Supergirl (Kara Zor-El) created by Otto Binder and Al Plastino. Kara Zor-El is the biological cousin to Superman and one of the last surviving Kryptonians. Supergirl is another DC Comics superhero television series joining the ranks of The CW's Arrow (2012) and The Flash (2014), Fox's Gotham, and the now defunct NBC's Constantine (2014). Let's check out what CBS has in stor for us with Supergirl this 2015.

Premise

It's not a bird. It's not a plane. It's not a man. It's Supergirl. In the new drama from the world of DC Comics, Superman's cousin, Kara Zor-El, embraces her superhuman abilities and becomes the hero she was always meant to be. This Fall on CBS.

Twenty-four-year-old Kara Zor-El, who was taken in by the Danvers family when she was 12 after being sent away from Krypton, must learn to embrace her powers after previously hiding them.[1] The Danvers teach her to be careful with her powers, until she has to reveal them during an unexpected disaster, setting her on her journey of heroism.

CBS Supergirl (2015) Television Trailer Review






So what can we say about the Supergirl First Look Trailer released by CBS this May 13, 2015? To start off it is giving off this lighthearted girl-empowering drama feel to it which is still good in my personal opinion and preference. It seems to be more lighthearted which reminds me a bit of The CW's The Flash in it's earlier part of the season, but will eventually tone down a bit (gearing to a more serious or darker tone) for it to be taken seriously - a standard nowadays when it comes to superhero television series.


I am not that familiar with the Supergirl mythos or her villains. I only know her at some extent with various DC Animated movies released earlier and the Justice League animated series. This is potentially a good show to get audience become familiar with or picque their curiosity with the super heroine. Some things I've noticed is: (1) Superman is heavily referenced in this series which is good because you can't really go on so without; (2) appearance of Jimmy (James) Olsen from the Daily Planet is another Superman reference, which could indicate other characters from the Superman story might appear in the show. Will we see Lois Lane or Lex Luthor here is yet to be see; (3) Her foster sister seems to be associated with the Department of Extra-Normal Operations which could explain how she got exposed to this organization (as seen in other press releases); (4) this trailer is quite a handful and is enough to build hype for the series. I am also liking the humor shown so far in this trailer. It is really shaping up well for the DC Television Universe. It is a good thing that Warner Bros. Television decided to separate the TV Universe (Arrow, Flash, Constantine) from the DC Cinematic Universe which is WAY darker and unforgiving. Now if we can only get to make US Television companies (CBS, Fox, The CW) agree to do more crossover episodes (without compromising the premise of the entire series) then that would be awesome (epic even)! I am hopeful for a good quality Justice League live action television series in the not so far future.

A First Look on Heroes Season 4: Redemption

Heroes, one of the most popular science fiction drama series by Tim Kring and a telecast by NBC is now on its fourth season entitled Redemption. Heroes Season 4 Redemption picks up after the conclusion of Season three which comprises of two volumes: Heroes Volume 3: Villains and Volume 4: Fugitives.



In Volume 5 entitled "Redemption", the characters have started living their normal lives after the people with abilities were hunted in the last volume "Fugitives", but it seems like fate will have a different plan for the heroes and that is what you will expect in Heroes Season 4 Volume 5 Redemption.

Meet the New Team Knight Rider

Chris a here again with another hit US television series updates. This time CMAQUEST features the ever awesomeness (I sounded like Po of Kung Fu Panda hehehe) action-romance-sci-fi adventures of Knight Rider.



Fast Facts: This is the main protagonist Mike Traceur and Kitt (Knight Industries Three Thousand) in their first mission in the February 2008's movie which will serve as the backdoor pilot of the Knight Rider 2008 Series.

Thanks to the power of the worldwide web I came to know that the new Knight Rider is a pick-up of the 1980's Knight Rider, meaning that it is not a remake but a continuation of the actual series. My father mentioned that he used to watched this series and here is a preview of that classic 1980s Knight rider opening theme.

Jason Bruening plays as Mike Traceur, the son of the previous driver/agent behind the first KITT (Knight Industries Two Thousand). He is in searched for his lost memory and with each mission he draws closer and closer to finding the truth about what happened to his lost memories.



Deanna Russo as Sarah Graiman, the daughter of Charles Graiman (creator of both original and the new KITT), new agent who usually helps Mike with most missions, and the love interest of Mike Traceur.



Bruce Davison as Charles Graiman, the creator of both the original KITT (Knight Industries Two Thousand) and the new KITT (Knight Industries Three Thousand) and is the father of Sarah.



Yancey Arias as Alex Torres is the head of Knight Industries operations.



Sydney Tamiia Poitier as FBI Agent Carrie Rivai. A trusted friend of the Graimans and Mike Traceur. Her character is strong-willed FBI agent.



Smith Cho as Zoe Chae is the very upbeat and seductive brainy chick behind some of the missions. She always tease Billy Morgan by being seductive.



Paul Campbell as Billy Morgan, is the main man and technical expert of Team Knight Rider. He doesn't like going on missions and prefer the desk jobs rather than being in the filled. I believe he has a secret crush on zoe (or was it really a secret?)



Val Kilmer voices of K.I.T.T. (Knight Industries Three Thousand), a Mustang with Artificial Intelligence, the latest "biometrics technology", a wide arsenal of offensive weaponry and more.

This is the team behind Knight Rider 2008 TV Series which packed with action, romance, cool cars, nifty gadgets, engaging episodes and gorgeous women.

Great US Series Available for Philippine TV

If you want to get out of the usual chain of the same old boring shows of the tyrant Philippine Giant Networks, well just browse your local channels to see more great shows.







There are these three new stations.. well, not really new but has a new look and feel via incorporating US shows and series in their program lists. I am talking about SBN 21 a.k.a as "ETC"; RJTV29 now known as "2nd Avenue"; and finally RPN 9 with its popular shows from "C/S" - "Crime / Suspense".

Chris A's Top US Television Shows Picks

Eventhough I am submerged with all the research work, I still manage to watch my faved TV shows. I will mainly focus on my QTV 11 and RPN 9 - C/S (Crime /Suspense) shows. Here they are:

Burn Notice

The title refers to the burn notices issued by intelligence agencies to discredit or announce the dismissal of agents or sources who are considered to have become unreliable. The television series is a first-person narrative (including frequent stream of consciousness voice-overs providing nuggets of esoteric exposition) from the viewpoint of covert-operations agent Michael Westen, played by Jeffrey Donovan.

Cold Case

Cold Case is an American police procedural television series revolving around a fictional Philadelphia Police Department division that specializes in investigating cold cases.

American Idol

American Idol is an annual American televised singing competition that seeks to discover the best young singer in the country, through a series of nationwide auditions. The outcomes of the later stages of this competition are determined by public voting by phone.

Identity

Identity is a game show, hosted by Penn Jillette and produced by Reveille where contestants can win money by matching 12 strangers one-by-one to phrases about their identities.

The Crypt Keeper from The Tales of the Crypt

The Crypt Keeper is literally a zombie who is the voice by John Kassir from the famous (and maybe infamous) Horror anthology back in the 90's "Tales from the Crypt".

The Crypt Keeper is a zombie(undead corpse) of some old guy who likes to tell stories with moral values but with bloody and unexpected consequences. Crypt Keeper is ghoulishly hilarious and undyingly lovely.

Crypt Keeper is insanely popular back then, this is a proof!



He is the walking Kama Sutra, His moves are to die for.



I wonder how much blood can mosquitos suck on Crypt Keeper?



"Finger Lickin' good" ... if he have one left?

Each episodes he dresses up relevant to the theme of the story. He also makes witty and hilarious comments and gestures that are certainly to die for... and then there is his signature laugh.

What platform do you have? Equal rights for the dead, perhaps?

CHARACTER SPECIAL FEATURE NO. 01: "Hiro Nakamura" Of Heroes

( ~ Weekly C-Special Feature )

Hiro Nakamura is one of the main protagonist on NBC's hit television series "Heroes". Hiro at first is a common office worker working in Japan who spends his time working and imagining that he has a power or special ability like those on what he sees on his comic books, sci-fi series and his father's bedtime tales.

Eventually Hiro does have power, for he is part of something huge, something that he is not yet aware of in season one and maybe up to the present.

Hiro has the ability (if he can concentrate enough - on the first season)to manipulate time, slowing it down, stopping and the ultimate of this moving back in time which can be really dangerous caused he might "disrupt the time space continuum" (as Hiro put it to words) or alter the flow of time.

In season one there are two Hiros. The other is called the "Future Hiro" of a Devastated future caused by the exploding man. His main goal is to undo or stop what is supposed to happen that resulted in the world he belongs to. He is first seen warning Peter Petrelli on a train in Heroes episode five "Hiros". As the series progresses, Future Hiros character was justified and the history why he became the way he was, was seen on Heroes season 01 episode 20 "Five Years Gone".

Hiro teleported back to Kyoto, Japan in 1671, the year of Takezo Kensei after he was thrown off by Sylar in the last episode of Season 01. Hiro in season 02 so far focuses on Hiro trying to correct time by helping the lazy bum Takezo Kensei be the Kensei of His Father's tales.

Hiros character is played by the very lovable actor "Masi Oka". With the popularity of Heroes, characters and actors like Masi got all the publicity and popularity they wished to be knowned.
