What if Science has dropped its final news, that a world would specifically end in this exact hour of a particular date. No buts or ifs, just plain facts, plain and simply end of the Earth. 4:44 Last Day On Earth is another film that tackles such seemingly potential future and depressing scenario.

I for one am particularly curious to see this "art" film. The film would obviously (as the title state) follow the people's lives, specifically one particular couple. The portrayals look top-notch which and plays with the idea of what would "actually" and realistically be like if people know that they only have a day, even minutes away from the end of the world.

The Raven
Plot / Synopsis

Edgar Allan Poe (John Cusack) joins forces with a young Baltimore detective (Luke Evans) to hunt down a mad serial killer who's using Poe's own works as the basis in a string of brutal murders.

When a mother and daughter are found brutally murdered in 19th century Baltimore, Detective Emmett Fields (Luke Evans) makes a startling discovery: the crime resembles a fictional murder described in gory detail in the local newspaper--part of a collection of stories penned by struggling writer and social pariah Edgar Allan Poe. But even as Poe is questioned by police, another grisly murder occurs, also inspired by a popular Poe story. Realizing a serial killer is on the loose using Poe's writings as the backdrop for his bloody rampage, Fields enlists the author's help in stopping the attacks. But when it appears someone close to Poe may become the murderer's next victim, the stakes become even higher and the inventor of the detective story calls on his own powers of deduction to try to solve the case before it's too late.

The Raven is directed by James McTeigue, based on a screenplay by Ben Livingston and Hannah Shakespeare which stars John Cusack, Alice Eve and Oliver Jackson-Cohen. Raven is slated for an April 27, 2012 release.

And who said Hollywood has run out of ideas? Well there are still some "what-if" scenarios they can played with. Like Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, The Raven also feature an iconic historical literary author Edgar Allan Poe and fictionalize his story to become a hero in a potential blockbuster Hollywood film. The question is will it "be" on the case of The Raven?

The Raven 2012 mystery thriller fiction about John Cusack Edgar Allan Poe against a serial killer mirroring his published works

Luckily the synopsis has somehow tells us that it is not Edgar Allan Poe whose responsible for all the murders copied by this serial killer which gives me great relief. The main protagonists being the main killer has been played over and over again in most films under the thriller or mystery genre. Hopefully it doesn't pull any trick shots and will eventually make him the serial killer after all, because that would suck. The Raven trailer looks pretty decent, and those who aren't familiar with the 19th Century author will definitely get a crash course of some of Poe's usually dark literary pieces. Avid fans of Poe's published works might put this film under critical scrutiny. Hopefully the film will engage both fans and non-fans of Edgar Allan Poe in this fictitious mystery thriller film.
