The ABCs of Death is an upcoming 2013 Magnet Releasing and Drafthouse Films horror anthology film. The ABCs of Death contains 26 different shorts, each by different directors spanning fifteen countries which premiered at the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival. The ABCs of Death is slated for a January 31, 2013 Video on Demand release and a March 8, 2013 US theatrical release. Let's check out what this gory horror title has in store for us.

The film is divided into twenty-six individual chapters, each helmed by a different director assigned a letter of the alphabet. The directors were then given free rein in choosing a word to create a story involving death. The varieties of death range from accidents to murders.

Death is inevitable. While to most the concept of death must be avoided as much as possible, others prefer to embrace it... even explore the possibilities. Hollywood has done their share with the fascination of death with the creation of various bloody and gruesome horror titles. 2013 marks a release of another disturbingly good to some with the The ABCs of Death.

I am a horror fan, so this film is very much welcome to my standards, but for the squirmish and the weak of heart, I highly recommend it. 26 directors each given a letter in the alphabet thus creating 26 artistic and gruesome episodes each with their own unique way of how one can die. Like any other anthology, there will be titles that will stand out and there will be some that won't. Specially with 26 titles, there isn't much development like a focused one story film. If you are into blood and gore, curious as to what director from different parts of the globe have in their heads on the concept of death, then it is the perfect film for you.

The Intruders is a a Spanish film directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo and written by the Spanish duo Nicolás Casariego and Jaime Marques. Hollowface will come because someone called his name. So that is what will generally happen with 2012 horror film. The big mystery here is to whether Hollowface got freed or targeting his victims because he was written by the child protagonist, or was the female protagonist has this connection to Hollowface to know how it works?

I am personally intrigued at what this film has to offer. Besides the usual scares, I am conscious about the lore behind this Hollowface. Why entitled "intruders" when a figure like Hollowface is the one only shown in this film? How will mere humans fight off this seemingly supernatural evil, or is it really supernatural? Hopefully it is not too predictable and has a solid story and scares from beginning to end.

Rampart Trailer Impressions: Will There be Redemption for These Kinds of Cops?

Rampart is a drama film slated for a February 2012 release and was first seen on the 2011 Toronto International Film Festival. Rampart stars Woody Harrelson as a dirty cop set fictitiously amidsr the real Rampart scandal back in the 90's. Let's check out the film's trailer here.

Plot / Synopsis

Officer Dave Brown (Harrelson) is a Vietnam vet and a Rampart Precinct cop, dedicated to doing "the people's dirty work" and asserting his own code of justice, often blurring the lines between right and wrong to maintain his action-hero state of mind. When he gets caught on tape beating a suspect, he finds himself in a personal and emotional downward spiral as the consequences of his past sins and his refusal to change his ways in light of a department-wide corruption scandal seal his fate. Brown internalizes his fear, anguish and paranoia as his world, complete with two ex-wives who are sisters, two daughters, an aging mentor dispensing bad advice, investigators galore, and a series of seemingly random women, starts to unravel. In the end, what is left is a human being stripped of all his pretense, machismo, chauvinism, arrogance, sexism, homophobia, racism, aggression, misanthropy; but is it enough to redeem him as a man?

This is why I love movies, it let's you know what it is like to be on someone else's shoe. Rampart follows the life of a dirty cop and the consequences of his decisions in life. Although the film is a work of fiction, it does provide a seemingly stellar performance from Woody Harrelson as a dirty cop doing the people's dirty work. It also educates us a little about Rampart scandal, a time in history when widespread corruption was found in the Community Resources Against Street Hoodlums (or CRASH) anti-gang unit of the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Rampart Division in the late 1990s.



In a politically incorrect time where sex, drugs, and violence reign, can the world tolerate a dirty cop? I am personally intrigued of how will the film unfold itself. Will there be any kind of redemption or resolution to this seemingly hopeless guy, or the a completely different horrendous outcome. Is he really doing this because of what the situation or his superiors told him to do or is there more to it than that? What makes man a man?
