ParaNorman Film Trailer Review

Let's see a main character that is misunderstood, laughed at, and generally loathed by the rest of the characters turns out to be the hero that will save the day. Hmm now where have I seen that kind of plot?

What the stop motion animated film lacks in original plot, it makes up for with its visual presentation. ParaNorman is a good-looking 3-D stop motion animated film, and although we have seen such kind of storyline before it still somehow intrigues me a bit. ParaNorman seems to reference various popular horror icons as seen in the trailer. It is "too cute" to simply put it and this might become an advantage or disadvantage for the film. Will it be just a kids film or a film for the whole family? What is this cursed that threatens the town? How can a mere kid who can talk to communicate with ghosts fend off a horde of the undead and ultimately save the day?

Frankenweenie Film Trailer Review

Tim Burton is back ready to scare the hell out of the 21st century children with Frankenweenie. To an adult perspective, Frankenweenie may very well be another kid's film, but if you carefully look pass that aspect, the ideas and the general dark presentation (theme) of the film is more likely aim for adults. It is perfect right? An animated film that everyone can enjoy.

Tim Burton has been known for his usually dark and quirky-themed movies which extends to Frankenweenie. If you lost someone dear to your life, it is only natural to want them back but of course it is not possible, but what if you can? That is what this stop motion animated film plays with. This time, Burton went with the animation to avoid possible conflict which his original 1984 Frankenweenie encountered: It was said that Burton was fired by Disney after the film was completed; the studio claimed that he had wasted company resources and felt the film was too scary for young audiences. But times are changing and so does kids tolerance with violence and dark themes. But to probably play safe, Burton may went with the 3-D stop motion animated remake.
